Object Pronouns, like Me

Object pronouns are those pronouns that receive the action in a sentence. They are me, you, him, her, us, them, and whom. Any noun receiving an action in the sentence, like these pronouns, is an object and is categorized as objective case.* An object pronoun can also be used after prepositions, i.e. “I will go with him.” In this article, we will only focus on nouns as recipients as these are the most frequently confused. With few exceptions, English grammar requires that objects follow the verb in a sentence.

Possessive Adjectives

We use possessive adjectives to express who owns (or ‘possesses’) something. A possessive adjective is used in front of a noun (a thing). For example:

Your pen.

Our car.

The possessive adjectives in English are as follows:

Here are some examples:

What’s your address?

My car is in front of the school.

This is Jack and this is his wife, Sue.

Put your coats on the back of your seats.

Our new Maths teacher is very nice.

My sister is always tired. Her job is difficult.

•possessive pronous noun as the subject or object of a clause. because the noun that is not replaced does not appear in the sentence. the noun must be clearly known from the context in which it is included, namely: mine, yours, ours , hers, his and its.
